The Qur’an has about 77,000 words, but many repeat. Learn just 50 base words and you will recognise 47.9% of the words in the Qur’an; 100 give 58.0%, 200 give 67.7%, and 320 give 74.5%. Each word comes with its meaning, root, count and a short example ayah; practise below with flashcards and a quiz.
Counts are by base word (lemma): «qāla, yaqūlu, qālū» all count as one word, «qāla». Pronouns (huwa, hum, kum…) are not counted separately. Meanings are short and general; context can change them.
